Ok, I’ll be honest. I have a super high metabolism and weigh under a hundred pounds at age 37. Before you start hating me, let me say, it isn’t as good as it sounds! Shopping in the children’s section really isn’t as fun as you might think! Yes my 8 year old and I can have matching outfits, but come on! So, some of you out there may be overweight and some may be underweight.
Either way we all need to get healthier inside and out, which in turn will boost our self esteem. I recommend that if you are single, start dating! It’s a great motivator! If not, find a goal and reach it. No it isn’t easy, but neither is giving birth yet we keep doing it for some reason! I just started working out almost a year ago and I am just now figuring out my goals. I just knew I wanted to be more tone. I didn’t get far without goals. The first thing I did was to buy an exercise ball and DVD. I made a goal to do that every night after I put the little one to bed. Before long she realized I was doing it and wanted to join me! Then I moved on to going to the apartment workout room, which now has a broken air conditioner, so it is a bit more challenging. Now that the weather has been cooler I have been going to this nice little trail park down the road to do my running.
As a single mom I really don’t have enough money for a gym membership, but I wasn’t going to use that as an excuse. I had saddlebags that I wanted to go away and sitting on them wasn’t working! So, all I did for those was squats and lunges every night and took 1″ off of them! Now the running is keeping them off as well.
Just research your goal and how to get it done on the internet, print it out and tape it somewhere you will see it every day. Mine was on my bathroom mirror.
My next goal was to run a 5k and I did it! Well, actually I added it to my bucket list so I had to do it, but that is a later article. Now my second goal is to run the 5k faster. I was running a little faster than a walk. I joined the Couch to 5k on Facebook and it really motivated me. Another idea is to get a partner to work out with or someone with a similar goal. I ran the 5K with my best friend. You are not only running for health, but for a good cause!
So, put up the potato chips, get off the couch and get outside! God didn’t create such beauty for nothing and he didn’t create your great body to be wasted away in tv land! I actually picked working out over Grey’s Anatomy last week! That’s what DVR is for! Oh, and don’t forget your ipod! Music makes working out so much easier and speeds up time. If it helps, put your goals on the comments below and we can all motivate each other.
